What is BBEXP all about?

The BEYOND BROADWAY EXPERIENCE gives young people between the ages of 8 and 25 years the unique opportunity to work with the professional team from The International Entertainment Collective, including professional directors, choreographers, musical directors, theatre designers and performers to put on a huge Musical Theatre show in spectacular professional venues.

Working intensively in rehearsals for two weeks running up to opening night, cast are put through their paces by our professional creative and production teams. You get to work with some of the best in the industry – and have a lot of fun along the way!

  • Auditions take place each year in November/December.
  • A Registration Day is then held in April/May.
  • You will need to be available to rehearse during your summer holidays for the full two weeks of the project (including Sundays for principal roles).
  • It is a supercharged two-week process ending with three fully-produced performances (two evenings and one Saturday matinee).

How do you get into the cast?

Every cast member starts by completing the application form online.  From here, suitable applicants are invited to audition (in person or online) by the BBEXP team.  Once an audition has been completed you will find out if you have been successful in gaining a place in the cast.

If you accept an offer to participate you will then be asked to pay your participation fee**.

  • The participation fee** for The Beyond Broadway Experience in 2025 is £425
  • A discount of 25% on participation fees is available to siblings

** Participation fees are non-refundable, under any circumstances.

How do the fees work and where does the money go?

We want this project to be accessible for everyone, therefore we have kept the cost as low as possible. Looking at alternative projects and activities that are on offer during the school holidays we can confirm that we have kept the price for two full weeks of rehearsals and performances to the very minimum and below the average cost of other options.

The cost for one full two-week programme is £425 in 2025*.

* Due after offer to participate. This is non-refundable under any circumstances and payment accepts your place in the cast of the show. Initial offers to take part in the project will be sent after the first-round auditions at which point you need to confirm your participation. We will then invite selected people from those who have confirmed their participation to audition for specific roles if we think they are suitable. As this project is about teamwork and the ensemble nature of musical theatre, we are not interested in working with young people who only want to participate if they are cast as principal roles. The value of participation does not lie in what role you take within the process. We do not therefore invite applicants to recall auditions until they have committed to the project. Please also note that following on from the 2020 Covid-19 crisis, we reserve the right adapt our rehearsal process and performance medium to conform to any future government restrictions without obligation to offer any refunds whatsoever of fees paid.
