How do the fees work and where does the money go?

We don’t want this project to be accessible only by the fortunate few youngsters who have a financial advantage and so have kept the cost to an absolute minimum. Looking at other projects that are on offer during the school holidays we have managed to keep the price for two full weeks of rehearsals and performances to the very minimum. Having the use of beautiful professional venues is expensive and we also need to cover the rights to the shows we produce. We must then employ a professional creative team including directors, choreographers, musical directors, musicians, lighting and sound designers, set builders and artists, costume coordinators and graphic designers. We also have professional vocal coaches, accent tutors and acting teachers on hand to help our cast be the best that they can possibly be. And not forgetting pastoral care for our young cast, through dedicated chaperones and supervisors. We also have to hire rehearsal rooms… the list goes on and on! To ensure that those taking part in our project have an experience unlike anything else on offer we also fly in fabulous guests to support us! In previous years we’ve had West End and Broadway stars working with the cast, London Casting Agents help at auditions and TV personalities pop in to support us.

The cost for one full two-week programme is £375 in 2024*.

* Due after offer to participate. This is non-refundable under any circumstances and payment accepts your place in the cast of the show. Initial offers to take part in the project will be sent after the first-round auditions at which point you need to confirm your participation. We will then invite selected people from those who have confirmed their participation to audition for specific roles if we think they are suitable. As this project is about teamwork and the ensemble nature of musical theatre, we are not interested in working with young people who only want to participate if they are cast as principal roles. The value of participation does not lie in what role you take within the process. We do not therefore invite applicants to recall auditions until they have committed to the project. Please also note that following on from the 2020 Covid-19 crisis, we reserve the right adapt our rehearsal process and performance medium to conform to any future government restrictions without obligation to offer any refunds whatsoever of fees paid.
