Beyond Broadway Productions is thrilled to welcome TELLY LEUNG, who recently played ALADDIN in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway, and WES THE WARBLER on the hit TV show GLEE to Edinburgh for a musical theatre masterclass!

Broadway Masterclass with Telly Leung on Saturday 18th May, 10am – 1pm

Telly Leung is a New York City native. His Broadway and national touring credits include Aladdin in Disney’s Aladdin, In Transit, Allegiance (with George Takei and Lea Salonga), Godspell, Rent (final Broadway company), Wicked (Boq, original Chicago company), Pacific Overtures, Flower Drum Song. In 2010, he starred as Angel in Rent at the Hollywood Bowl opposite Wayne Brady, directed by Neil Patrick Harris. Television audiences will remember him as Wes the Warbler on Glee, as well as his guest star appearances on Instinct, Odd Mom Out, Deadbeat and Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

Telly is featured on many original Broadway cast recordings and he has released two solo albums: I’ll Cover You (2012) and Songs for You (2016) on The Yellow Sound Label. BFA Carnegie Mellon University.

About the workshop

Places are limited – age 18+. You must book early to ensure a spot. If you are interested in singing in this masterclass, please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song that represents your skills, style, and personality. An accompanist will be provided, so bring sheet music in the correct key that is clearly marked. Sheet music should be placed in a binder with non-glare sheet protectors. Telly will engage ALL students in the entire class. Those who are interested in singing will put their name in a hat at the top of the class. Telly will pull names from the hat and work with as many singers as possible in the allotted time, utilising those students and their selections to engage the entire class in a close examination and discussion of vocal and story-telling techniques to find deeper connection to their pieces. You do not need to sing to participate in the class. Singing participants and observers are welcome.
